Privacy Policy — Knockdown
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Knockdown is private by design. Here's exactly how your information is handled, in plain English.
The short version
- No account, no sign-up, no login. You just open the app and use it.
- Your data never leaves your device. Everything you enter is stored locally on your phone or computer (in the browser's IndexedDB storage).
- No servers. No tracking. No ads. No analytics. We don't collect, transmit, see, or sell anything you enter.
- You're in control. Export a backup file whenever you want, move it to another device, or erase everything from Settings at any time.
What Knockdown stores — and where
The app saves the information you enter so it's there when you come back:
- Accounts (names, balances, limits, APRs, due dates, minimum payments)
- Payments and charges you log
- Budget income and expenses
- Assets / net worth entries
- Your settings and theme preference
All of this lives only on the device you entered it on. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
What Knockdown does not do
- It does not send your data anywhere.
- It does not connect to your bank or any financial institution.
- It does not use tracking cookies, advertising, or third-party analytics.
- It does not require or collect your name, email, or any personal account.
Purchases (Plus & Pro)
The financial data you enter is never collected — that stays on your device, as above. The one exception is buying a subscription: that transaction is handled by your app store (e.g. Apple) and our subscription provider, which process the purchase and an anonymous identifier to confirm which plan you're entitled to. They do not receive any of the accounts, balances, or payments you track. We never see your card details. If you don't subscribe, none of this applies.
Backups are yours
Exporting a backup creates a file on your device. That file is yours — store it wherever you like. You can encrypt the backup with a passphrase (AES-256): the file is then unreadable without it, so it's safe to keep in Files or iCloud Drive. We never see the passphrase and it can't be recovered — if you lose it, that encrypted file can't be opened, so store it somewhere safe.
Because your data lives only on your device, a backup is your safety net: if you lose or reset the device without a backup, the data is gone and cannot be recovered (we never had a copy).
Removing your data
You can permanently erase all data at any time from Settings → Danger zone → Erase everything. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser storage also removes it.
Not financial advice
Knockdown provides tools and projections to help you plan. It is not financial advice. Projections are estimates based on the numbers you enter; always verify against your statements before making payment decisions.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated date at the top will change with it.
